They take different routes to the same goal \u2014 your conversations not being fuel \u2014 and one stands apart. A quick note on method: every claim below is taken from the provider&#8217;s own privacy or help-center pages, and every price is taken from its pricing page, <strong>obtained August 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>Venice \u2014 the rare provider built around not having your data<\/h3>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">If the majors treat your chat as fuel, <strong>Venice<\/strong> treats it as something they shouldn&#8217;t hold at all. It&#8217;s worth examining closely because it&#8217;s the most fully-realised version of the &#8220;uncollect&#8221; model.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">Venice&#8217;s privacy stance is unusually precise. It does <strong>not access or store the content of your prompts or outputs<\/strong>; it holds local-only conversation history on your device; and it operates <strong>zero-data-retention agreements with its model providers<\/strong> \u2014 meaning the underlying models are contractually barred from storing or using your prompts beyond generating a reply. It also routes through several privacy modes, from an <strong>anonymous proxy<\/strong> (where the underlying provider may still store content \u2014 not private) up to hardware-verified <strong>TEE<\/strong> and full <strong>E2EE<\/strong> on higher tiers, where even Venice itself can&#8217;t see what you send. Interesting if you want the cost side to ride the same rails as the product.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">What makes Venice genuinely different from an anonymizing proxy is the combination: local-only history, direct zero-retention contracts, and the option to push processing into a TEE or E2EE where no party in the chain can read your content. That&#8217;s a materially stronger guarantee than &#8220;we&#8217;ll delete your data after 30 days.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>The rest of the privacy-first field<\/h3>\n<h4>Awan LLM \u2014 the API cousin with the same soul<\/h4>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">If Venice is the flagship &#8220;we don&#8217;t store it&#8221; chat experience, <strong>Awan LLM<\/strong> is the developer-facing version of the same philosophy. It&#8217;s an inference API that owns <strong>its own data centers and GPUs<\/strong>, sells <strong>unlimited-token flat subscriptions<\/strong> instead of per-token pricing, and states on its FAQ and privacy policy that it <strong>does not log prompts or generated content<\/strong>. For builders who want the no-retention picture without running hardware, it&#8217;s the closest structural cousin to Venice. Tiers obtained August 2026 run from a free tier through <strong>Core $5, Plus $10, Pro $20, Max $80\/month<\/strong> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.awanllm.com\/pricing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Awan pricing page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Duck.ai \u2014 the easiest free privacy win<\/h4>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">DuckDuckGo&#8217;s Duck.ai needs no account and acts as an anonymizing proxy in front of Claude, GPT, Mistral, and open models. Your IP and metadata are stripped before the request reaches the provider; DuckDuckGo doesn&#8217;t train on your chats, and it holds <strong>zero-data-retention agreements<\/strong> with providers \u2014 prompts and responses are deleted <strong>immediately<\/strong> after a reply, with narrow documented exceptions. Free, at <a href=\"https:\/\/duckduckgo.com\/duck.ai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">duck.ai<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Brave Leo \u2014 no-retention assistant in the browser<\/h4>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">Leo is built into the Brave browser and, per Brave, <strong>doesn&#8217;t log or retain chats after a response<\/strong>, proxies requests so they&#8217;re not tied to your IP, and doesn&#8217;t build a profile. Free tier needs no login; Premium adds stronger models at <strong>$14.99\/month<\/strong> (obtained August 2026, <a href=\"https:\/\/brave.com\/premium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Brave Premium page<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h4>Kagi and Proton Lumo \u2014 privacy-search and encryption routes<\/h4>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">If you already pay for privacy search, <strong>Kagi<\/strong> bundles its Assistant with search credits (plans <strong>$5 \/ $10 \/ $25 per month<\/strong>; obtained August 2026, <a href=\"https:\/\/kagi.com\/pricing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Kagi pricing<\/a>). And from the team behind Proton Mail, <strong>Proton Lumo<\/strong> ($12.99\/month list for Plus, often $9.99\/month billed annually) protects conversations with zero-access encryption \u2014 Proton itself can&#8217;t read them, and its code is open source (<a href=\"https:\/\/proton.me\/lumo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">proton.me\/lumo<\/a>).<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>The honest ceiling of all of these<\/h3>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">Every service above that routes to a third-party model \u2014 Venice&#8217;s anonymous mode, Duck.ai, Leo \u2014 faces one unavoidable truth: <strong>at some point a prompt touched someone else&#8217;s server.<\/strong> The &#8220;anonymized&#8221; and &#8220;zero-retention&#8221; agreements are strong, but they are contracts and design choices, not physics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">Only one option removes the third party entirely: running the model on hardware you control \u2014 where your prompts physically never leave your machine, and &#8220;who trains on your data&#8221; stops being a question with an uncomfortable answer.
